National Forest, Lake Huron Highlight This County Alcona County, on US-23 Sunrise Side Coastal Highway has something for everyone. Its 694 square miles stretch inland, encompassing lush forests, sparkling lakes and streams and is bordered by some 30 miles of Lake Huron shoreline on its east side. The area offers four seasons of recreational opportunities, including boating, camping, cross-country skiing, fishing, hiking and hunting. Alcona County is home to many great golf courses and is an angler’s paradise with over 60 inland lakes and numerous streams. A perfect place for viewing breathtaking sunrises over Lake Huron, watching boats coming and going out of beautiful Harrisville Harbor, visiting historic Sturgeon Point Lighthouse and camping at Harrisville State Park are but a few of the activities for visitors and residents alike. |

Alcona County is home to the following communities: Barton City Located in central Alcona County on beautiful Jewell Lake, Barton City offers a National Forest Campground; excellent fishing for trout, bass, pike and pan fsh; Reid Lake foot travel area; snowmobiling and access to thousands of acres of public lands. Black River Black River offers access to three miles of Lake Huron shoreline; boasts of sandy beaches; swimming; trophy fishing, including trout and salmon; 9,000 acres of public land; ball fields; tennis courts and five shipwrecks near Black River Island. Curran Curran is located in the heart of hunting country at the edge of the Huron National Forest, with frequent deer and wild turkey sightings and trout fishing on the nearby AuSable River. Camping is available at McCollum Lake State Forest Campground. Glennie Glennie, the heart of the Huron-Manistee National Forest, is proud of excellent fishing on its 1200-acre Alcona Pond; canoeing the national scenic AuSable River; hiking; cross-country skiing trails; snowmobiling and deer hunting. Camping is available at Alcona Park, Alcona Canoe and Campground, Horseshoe Lake National Forest and Pine River National Forest. Greenbush Located along the shores of Lake Huron, Greenbush is home to sandy beaches, scenic Cedar Lake; a historic old country school; sport fishing; golf, snowmobiling and beautiful home-sites. Harrisville Harrisville is the focal point for salmon and lake trout fishing on Lake Huron. It provides a harbor of refuge and boat launch; Harrisville State Park; historical Sturgeon Point Lighthouse; golf and the Labor Day Harmony Weekend and Art Fair. Hubbard Lake Hubbard Lake is the largest inland body of water in northeast Michigan and a long-favored family vacation spot, features fishing, swimming, sailing, scuba diving, water skiing, Manjidiwin Days Celebration and a walleye challenge. Lincoln This community features a complete commercial district and aggressive industrial program, includes a historic depot, the Alcona County Fair at the Alcona Recreation Area, Alcona Health Center, Alcona elementary and secondary schools, swimming, fishing and championship snowmobile racing.
